Alan was raised in Provo attending Provo schools and taking CTE courses starting in Jr. High. He attended Utah Valley State College and then Weber State University earning a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Alan has been in education since 1994. He began his career at Provo High School teaching Basic Electronics, Digital Electronics, Principles of Technology, and TV Broadcasting for 9 years. He earned a Master's Degree in Education Leadership from Brigham Young University in 2002. He has been an Assistant Principal at Timpview, Springville and Maple Mountain High School, which he helped to open in 2009. In 2012 Alan opened the Advanced Learning Center for Nebo School District and served as principal until the spring of 2015 when he was appointed as the CTE Coordinator for Nebo School District.
