Data Driven Credit Recovery
Four years ago, West Jordan Middle School 9th grade students struggled with credit deficiency. During the 2013-14 school year, 9th graders failed 445 classes.  Due to this concern, WJMS set out to create a system that would reduce this large number. These programs included Lion Lunch, Peer Tutoring, before/after school homework assistance, and Platinum Pride Time (PPT). Over the past 3 years, there has been a decrease in failing grades. During the 2016-17 school year, 9th graders only failed 54 classes. A large portion of success in this area revolves around the PPT program.  Platinum Pride Time is facilitated during school hours where ninth grade students can receive additional academic help in their core classes (Language Arts, Math, Geography, and Science). They may work on missing assignments, projects, and assessments. When students have recovered credit from their core classes, they may also have the opportunity to recover their elective credits.
